Made up of musicians from Vancouver, British Columbia, Pugs and Crows plays original music that draws on multiple genres including jazz, East European folk, tango and improvisation. Their music is a cinematic journey through evocative soundscapes. The band includes Catherine Toren piano, Cole Schmidt guitar, Meredith Bates violin, Russell Sholberg bass and Ben Brown drums. The band was formed in 2008 and has been featured at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival for the past two years and received the Galaxie Rising Star Award in 2010.
